AHD have done it again and designed a brand new light wind board aimed directly at windsurfing families. The new AHD Summer Board.
After the Seal Concept, developed from the “Fish program”, AHD have been busy on the innovation front and come up with the new Summer Board. Aimed directly at the family market here is a board that crosses over from windsurfing into longboard surfing and means families can enjoy even more time down at the beach.
“Merging all of the following parameters, pleasure, memories, sensations with or without wind, waves… a real mix, from the Windsurfer to the stand up long board with an old style touch that guarantees sensations under 10 knots…my board for the summer!” Bruno Andre.
Pascal Gerber has shaped this 12 feet long board. Equipped with a US box, adaptable with Tri fins for surfing, it also has a leash plug on the tail.
A mast box and a power box (to use a dagger or as a handle to carry the board easily) are also included.
Voluminous, 10,5cm thick for 66cm maximum width, Pascal has put it on an ideal scoop to slide quickly (even with low speed) and it answer to the lightest push with a kick on the tail.
In order to have a complete product, the following equipment is ideal to benefit from the complete range of activities offered by the concept shape “THE AHD’s SUMMER BOARD”:
- A “Slide Cutter” Select fin 8’5”
- Air twins
- A dagger “summer” 35cm (or adaptor to close the Power box)
- A rig Nautix X Move 5m

Family windsurfing:
The 35cm dagger in the Power box, the shape is stable and voluminous to stroll in light wind, along the coast, creeks, teach friends and family. The lack of grip (wax only!) prevents rubbings, ideal for children! It is perfect to cruise with a kite in light breeze too.

Practice your old free style tricks:
Duck tacks, “pirouette under the sail”, slice, old free style nostalgic dreamer’s will definitely be happy.
The balanced width on the outline permits every thing.
The adaptor closing the Power box guarantees a return to the past, with no straps or harness, a deep rig sail and true sensations at the lightest blow!

Old style wave riding:
All one needs to do is ride out and to come back with the sail on the long board. Side shore wind, on shore wind, all is good, from nose riding to long surfs.
Stand up long board:
With the paddle, it is so cool to take all the waves before all the others riders who are just waiting and waiting for the ideal moment… and off you go for top long board sessions. It turns incredibly; it is stable to walk easily on the deck or control sections. It is the bomb!
Constructed in a High Technology Sandwich, the Summer Board weighs 11kg for 130 litres. Stiffness and lightness guarantees action in light wind or small waves (even 30cm). Its graphic has a “surf touch” style.
AHD Summer Board encloses 30 years of sensations in its shape, from pure windsurfing to last surf fashion!
The Summer Board is a Concept Shape, only available as a prototype shaped by Pascal Gerber. But watch this space to see whether AHD gain enough interest to turn this into a full production model.
