The new world cup wave for 2007 that powers the North Sails wave team riders including Daida and Iballa Moreno, Nike Baker, Jonas Ceballos, Peter Volwater and Cyril Moussilmani makes it debut at the PWA.
When Kai Hopf released the Ice last year for the first time the sails were met with great anticipation. Having taken over the mantel of the successful Superstar, one would think that it would be a difficult task to make this range even better.
But Kai and his development team appear to have done just that! Aimed at all kinds of wave conditions the brief was simple: create a sail for North Sail's world cup wave team enabling them to win world cup wave events. It has to work in a variety of conditions form big wave Hookipa to the European wave conditions of Sylt and Gran Canaria.
The new imodular_design has enabled the panel layout to be strengthened whilst improving the overall durability/weight ratio. The hyper.leech and TT.Top outlines have been modified which enables the sails to "breathe" more easily. Combine this with the reduction in batten angles and the overall effet is a sail that covers a much wider wind range.
The Ice 2007 really is: the sail for all wave conditions.
