Bjoern Dunkerbeck and John Skye are the first sailors to sing the praises of the new Duke range.
Designed as a crossover freestyle / power wave sail the Duke is the Jekyl and Hyde amongst the competition. In the larger sizes (5.9m upwards) it is an ideal flatwater freestyle sail, but drop down to the 5.4 and below and the characteristics of this sail change - you are now clearly in to down the line wave sailing territory.
Developed with the likes of Cheo Diaz in mind - busting all kinds of freestyle moves - and Bjoern Dunkerbeck for power wave sailing - the Duke has a reputation to live up to.
Again, Kai Hopf has been busy applying the imodular_design but also modifying the hyper leech and TT top outline to increase the wind range of this incredible sail.
The major difference this year is the replacement of the monofilm central panel with X-ply 725 on the smaller sizes (5.4m and smaller), providing more strength whilst keeping the weight to a minimum.
The extra fullness to the Duke provides just a little more power over the North Ice 2007 to get the sail up and going, which means the Duke is an ideal sail for the heavyweight sailor.
So whether you are into freestyle or wave sailing a quiver of Duke's really does give you the best of both worlds!
