Have you ever wondered why Ezzy Sails has such a loyal following of hardcore windsurfers?
Try an Ezzy and the answer becomes obvious.
For 2008, the Ezzy Wave SE will take you down the road to sailing nirvana.
The first thing you will notice about the 2008 Ezzy Wave SE is the extremely wide wind range designed into the sail and accessed through the outhaul. In high wind, just pull more on the outhaul and the profile flattens to give a locked, stable feeling. If you want more power for some light wind sailing, ease the outhaul and you get a deep and powerful light-air sail.
Next, you will notice the sail's extremely balanced and soft feeling that allows you to focus on your next move rather than on what the sail is doing. Finally, you'll notice our proven construction. The main sail panels are made of ultradurable Spectra X-film, and the foot is constructed of an even stronger Ezzy-designed Spectra X-film. The clear vinyl window will neither tear nor scratch, giving a lifetime of great visibility and strength.
Adding even more durability, the 2008 Ezzy Wave SE has a weft-stop sleeve cloth that will impressively resist tears caused by extreme forces like breaking masts. The Ezzy Wave SE is equipped with a thick mast pad that flips up for easy rigging, triple-ply leech reinforcements, Ezzy EndoBatten construction, an adjustable and removable head strap, a removable tack pulley that can be replaced with a D-ring for those sailors that prefer a grommet, and printed rigging instructions on the sail.
The sail of choice for Josh Angulo.
With Ezzy Sails every year is an evolution from the year before and quite often it is hard to spot the visual differences. This year is no exception but there have been important changes to the shape and handling of the sail as explained by Ezzy Team Rider and Technique guru Jem Hall.
Ezzy 2008 versus the Ezzy Wave 2007
NEW SHAPE
Yes, they still have an extremely wide wind range accessed through the outhaul but there have been some subtle changes as Jem explains.
Jem Hall:
“The 2008 wave sails are flatter around the third and fourth batten. There is less shape in the rear of the sail and slightly less pull in the hands although still plenty of power.
The sail will feel less full, a little smoother with the power point slightly further forward”.
LESS OUTHAUL SENSITIVE
Something that was picked up from 2007 was that although the sails had a massive wind range they required a careful eye to tune. Mindful that a lot of sailors either don’t take the time or have the knowledge to fine tune their sails properly, Ezzy has simplified the whole process for the 2008 sails being slightly less outhaul sensitive and including the new Ezzy rigging indicators.
Jem Hall:
The ‘08's can take a lot more downhaul which gives them a lighter feel and they are less outhaul sensitive, though you will need to outhaul them hard in strong wind or when well powered up”.
REMOVABLE TACK PULLEY
This can therefore be replaced with a D-ring for sailors who want to use a pulley hook.
Jem Hall:
“You can go either with the very smooth and tough 6 to 1 ratio on the pulley hook or remove this and use a D ring. These are available from your nearest and dearest Ezzy dealer. This has the benefit that you can use your own pulley off your favoured extension, if you so require, and you can also use an XT thereby giving you the choice. The pulley or D ring is held in place by a very sturdy split pin which is easy to change”.
5 BATTEN
The 6.3m fits on a 430 rather than a 460 and is 5 not 6 battens.
Jem Hall:
“In the biggest sizes for ’08 we now have a 6.9 and a 6.3. For ’08 both are now 5 batten and set on a 460 and a 430 respectively. This gives you the added bonus of having a 6.3 wave sail that sets on your existing mast (a 430), that is bomb proof and with an awesome wind range is sure to get you out on those light days. Also great for heavyweights”.

CONSTRUCTION
The same as ever! The main sail panels are made of ultra durable Spectra X-film with extra strength in the foot panel. The clear vinylwindow is tear and scratch resistance. However, the 2008 sails have a weft-stop sleeve cloth to resist tears from broken masts.
