The first day of wind for this spring period ended with a top run of 40.67-knots and this speed belonged to Dave White (Gaastra/Tabou) using a combination of Tabou speed board and the latest Gaastra Vapour.
Canal manager Christophe Simian stated:- “Throughout the day the northerly Mistral wind never reached over 30-knots here in Les Saintes, but we had a very good angle of 125 degrees which enabled the riders to post very fast times considering the strength of the wind.”
The fastest women’s time of the day belonged to Valerie Ghibaudo (Gun/T1) with a speed of 36.70-knots and Marion Raisi (NeilPryde/Exocet) of Marseilles posted a time of 34.62-knots on her first day of competition on the ‘French Trench’.
Record holder Finian Maynard (NeilPryde/F2) was absent due to a vehicle problem in Switzerland on his drive to France, but he is now prepared and ready to go for the next windy day.
