STARBOARD Carve 121 Wood - 2004 - test result, boa rd review - German Surf, 05 2004

Volume: 121 ltr.
Weight: 7.1 kg
Fin: Starboard Drake Freeride 38.0 cm / Tuttlebox/Carbon-glassfiber

The STARBOARD Carve 121 is comfortable like an AHD, steady and smooth but still loose and agile on your feets. Designer Svein Rasmussen found a perfect balance with the Carve 121. Only pure racers will maybe miss the straight feeling of a Fanatic or RRD. The board is running soft and carves well balanced, especially in wide turns and even rough treatment will not stop it from planing.

For sharp turns, the Carve needs some force – but like a good Carvingski, the cornering ability is better than your legs can cope with. There are no too narrow turns for the Carve, only too weak thighs. Nevertheless even with lots of pressure on the rail it keeps the speed and jibes powerful at the wave-transition. The Carve 121 went down very well with the tender, 55kg gentle sex. „simply wonderful!“ was the comment, cause in soft turns for gliding jibes or duck jibes the STARBOARD is willingly responding even moderate leg-pressure.

Raceposition, freeride or carving footposition allowing a versatile tuning. The big fin is fitting proper in the Tuttle-box.

Result: Top-performance with perfect control developes a maximum range of use.
