Slalom and Speed are becoming popular again. JP decided to be part of this exciting development by introducing 3 models of new generation slalom boards.
The "Red JP Racing Machines" are a force to be reckoned with.
The thrill you get out of speed has no limits and allows everyone to have fun no matter if you are competing or just chasing your mates. Consequently Werner Gnigler's main goal was maximum speed but he also made sure the boards cover a big wind and sail size range.
The new, wide design does not limit one board size to one sail and fin combination and makes speed and slalom sailing a lot less technical and easier than in the old days.
Don't be mistaken - this is absolutely not a short board beginner product. Active sailing and planing are a must. Advanced, dedicated sailors will get the full potential out of it - and will be rewarded with the blast of their life. It's all about Control
You won't be fast if you are not comfortable and if you can't control your board. Most slalom boards on the market have a high speed potential but are they easy enough to control? Below you'll see what Werner did to make advanced riders go fast - not just human muscle machines.
The new JP slalom boards are relatively wide in the center and the overall length is kept quite short. There is no unnecessary weight and surface area in front of the mast base. Thus wind and choppy water can not bounce the board around. The outline towards the tail is parallel and straight. This creates a long rail-waterline and in combination with the tail cut-outs maximizes stability in straight-line sailing. The rail shape is designed for maximum power distribution from the sailor onto the board and most important for a comfortable stance. The bigger and wider boards (114, 134) have a very loose and high water position to reduce the wetted surface as much as possible. This is the key for top speed in light wind conditions. The smaller the boards, the flatter the water position. In high wind conditions control gets a different meaning. Jibes are also a very important factor in these designs. When racing it's a must to carry maximum speed through the turn, keep planing and get back to maximum speed straight away. That's why the rail shape towards the tail is thinned out nicely and the foot strap position is an ideal combination between performance and maneuverability.
If you are ready to step up and really want to find out how fast you can go - you need one of the "Red Racing Machines". See you at the Podium
FINS:
We decided to deliver these high performance boards without fins, as many slalom board customers prefer to use fins of their own choice. The JP Australia Slalom boards were developed and tested with Select Slalom fins and we highly recommend those fins for our boards.
