The proven GTX concept has changed in some ways. Similar to previous yeas, the 8m and 9m sizes convinced us that the new GTX is a more comfortable sail to use. Blessed with loads of race feeling power and incredible control throughout the wind range these sails are easy to tune. The angle of attack at the entry luff sock is somewhat flatter than other sails. Because of this, the camber inducers don’t have far to travel and make gibing very easy. There is almost no “noise” when rotating the sail because of the even pressure on the cams.
In overpowered conditions, the shallower entry angle shows its glory. When hit with gusts up to 5 beuofort you are still able to release the pressure with a slight sheeting out of the sail. In the lower end range, the bear like ground pull comes from the very compact outline with a long boom. The rig desires to have a stiff boom because of this and the only tradeoff you get is a tiny point less in the maneuverability range.
The quality of the new GTX stayed on a “Five Star level” for a fair price in comparison to others.
“SURF TIP”: One of the best balanced sails having much power, Highly recommended. Optically and technically very attractive.
