Gaastra Manic 2006 Sail Review Test German Surf Magazine

Gaastra Manic 2006 Sail Review Test German Surf Magazine

Translated from German Surf Magazine

With the changing of the sail designer, comes a dramatic new feel to the 2006 Manic. Easier rigging and trimming allows for many different tuning options.

You can set the sail up to rig full for light winds and flatten it off for windier conditions. It does not have the backhand power like last years model but the light and neutral handling make it a highly attractive candidate for any sailor.

Built to be used in radical side shore conditions the 2006 Manic is very suitable for the average sailor. The balance and control leads us for the first time to recommend this sail for standard Northsee conditions. In gusty and rough conditions the Manic is one of the top favorites in the field.

The Manic scored a perfect 10 in the control department. With regard to construction the Manic leaves no wishes unfulfilled having rubber linings protecting the seams and a wear and tear shield around the clew hole. The all new Manic lacks nothing from any modern sail. Our only comment is that it could have some trim marks for downhaul settings.
