The new panel layout of the Storm is very eye-catching, with large ‘Optic2’ x-ply sections radiating into the sail’s centre from its corners. Named the ‘airframe’ construction, it is designed to distribute the loading evenly throughout the panels to reduce distortion, thereby improving both range and handling.
The Tushingham Storm 6.0m has been a favourite of ours in this category for the past two seasons, so we were all holding our breath as we tried this all-new model for the first time!
Ride and Handling Beautifully light and balanced in the hands at idle, the Dacron luff panel allows the sail to breathe as the airflow increases over it, making it adopt a much deeper, more powerful camber. Exhausting excess power effortlessly, it has a supreme natural range, never pulling the rider’s stance out of shape or losing its composure, making it very practical for any rider ability or style. If anything, the one criticism we had of the Storm in the past was that its softness and elasticity gave it a somewhat delayed response when used in situations that required instantaneous feedback.
The new Storm is a stunningly well-engineered foil and is sure to continue the legacy of this sail series. Stand up and take a bow Mr Ken Black!

For: Stunning range and handling, giving it universal appeal. Against: As an all-round freeride sail, it can’t be beat!
Verdict The Storm has been reborn with a stunning new lease of life. An excellent sail has just got a whole lot better; it comes very highly recommended by us.
